About
PhotoID Ready offers small tools that help you prepare passport and visa photos, and compress images to a target file size. They run in your browser.
What the tools do
You choose a photo. The photo tool finds your face, crops the picture to the size of the document, and checks the position of your head (and of your eyes where a document sets a rule) against the published requirements. It then makes the file for you to download. Some pages also check the file size and dimensions, or make a sheet for printing. The image compression tools reduce a picture to a chosen size in KB.
Why we made it
Photo requirements are easy to get wrong: a few millimetres of head height, a file just over the size limit, or a crop that cuts off the hair. We wanted a simple way to check these things, without sending your photo to anyone. The tools work in your browser, and your photo is not uploaded. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
Where the requirements come from
Each photo page links to the official source of its requirements, such as a government or visa-service website, and shows the date we last checked it. Requirements change, so please read the official page too. Where an authority does not publish a number, such as a head size, the page says so.
Provisional pages
Some pages are marked "Provisional figures". For these we could not yet confirm every number against an official source. They show a clear notice, and they are kept out of search engines until the figures are checked.
What we are not
We are an independent service. We are not a government agency and are not affiliated with any government agency or visa centre. We cannot tell you whether a photo will be accepted; that decision belongs to the authority you submit it to. See the Terms of Use.
